Motivation often plays a critical role in any weight loss journey, this not only influences the decision to start but also the ability to stay committed to our goals over time.

For some of us, the initial motivation may stem from health concerns, such as wanting to prevent or manage conditions like diabetes, cholesterol or even heart disease, while for others it may be driven by a desire to improve physical appearance or boost our self-confidence.

Sustaining motivation during a weight loss journey often requires us to shift from external goals, such as achieving our target weight, to internal motivators, such as feeling more energetic, noticing an improvement in our mental well-being, or developing a healthier relationship with food and exercise.

Over time, the most successful weight loss efforts often come from a place of self-care and long-term health, rather than from quick fixes or societal pressures.

How long have you been working toward your weight loss goals, and what inspired you to start this journey with Sprezzatura?

Thank you for this insightful message about motivation in weight loss. It really resonates with me, especially the point about shifting from external to internal motivators.

To answer your question: I’ve actually been working on my weight loss goals since my forties, and I’m now in my sixties. What I’ve noticed over the years is that my motivation levels seem to decrease as I age, which can be quite frustrating after such a long journey.

What initially started as wanting to look better has evolved into focusing more on health concerns and maintaining my energy levels. However, I find it challenging to maintain that same drive and enthusiasm I had when I was younger.

This is actually one of the reasons I decided to try Sprezzatura – I was looking for a fresh approach and renewed support system to reignite my commitment.

Given my long history with this journey and my current age, do you have any specific suggestions for:

    • How to maintain high motivation levels as we age?
    • Strategies that work particularly well for women in their sixties?
    • Ways to overcome the discouragement that can come from years of trying?

I’m hoping that with the right mindset and support, I can finally achieve the sustainable success that has been elusive for so long.

    Thank you for your guidance.

    Regards, Paula

      Hi Paula,

Thank you so much for opening up and sharing your journey with us, it is incredibly inspiring that you have stayed committed and motivated to your health journey, even when motivation has dipped. This kind of perseverance is something to be proud of.

You are absolutely right, motivation does indeed change with age. What once felt exciting and urgent in our 40s can feel more challenging to sustain in our 60s. But that shift also gives us the chance to realign our goals with what really matters now: long-term vitality, energy, and quality of life.

Here are a few thoughts that may help:

      1. Allow Purpose to Be Your Power

Instead of chasing motivation, maybe try focusing on why you started again, perhaps it’s reducing health risks, or simply feeling good in your skin along with wanting better energy levels. A strong “why” often fuels us to have better consistency and motivation.

      2. Progress Differs from Person to Person

With weight loss, progress looks different for each person, at this stage of life, maintaining strength, good digestion, a 0balanced mood, and stable energy is just as important. Let those be part of how you measure your wins.

      3. Be Gentle and Kind to Yourself

After years of effort, it’s normal to feel discouraged at times. But please remember: every time you recommit, you’re reinforcing self-trust. You’re not starting from scratch, but rather moving forward with experience.

      4. Let Sprezzatura Be a Fresh Chapter

We designed Sprezzatura to support weight loss with a holistic approach, those who have tried so much already and are ready for something sustainable, holistic, and kind to the body. It’s not just a supplement, it is part of the mindset shift toward working with your body, not against it.

You have already shown so much strength by continuing to try. With the right mindset and support, lasting change is possible and you deserve to feel that success in a way that fits this season of your life.

We are cheering you on every step of the way!

    Dear Jyotika,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful and encouraging response. Your words truly resonated with me, especially the reminder that progress looks different at this stage of life.

I have to be honest though – while I appreciate the advice about finding my “why,” simply wanting to be healthier feels a bit abstract and isn’t giving me the motivational push I really need. I’m struggling to connect with a purpose that feels truly compelling and drives me to action consistently.

This is actually where I find myself stuck. I know I should want better health, energy, and vitality, but somehow that knowledge alone isn’t translating into the sustained motivation I need. I think this might be part of why I keep starting and stopping – the “why” feels more like something I think I should want rather than something that genuinely fires me up.

Do you have any suggestions for how to dig deeper and find that authentic motivation? Or perhaps ways to build momentum even when the deeper purpose isn’t crystal clear yet?

I’m still very interested in trying the holistic approach with Sprezzatura and working with my body rather than against it. Maybe the right mindset will emerge through the process itself.

Thank you again for your support and understanding.

    With gratitude, Paula

      Hi Paula,

Thank you for your heartfelt message, I truly appreciate your honesty. What you have expressed is something many people experience, especially when the journey has been long and motivation comes and goes.

A meaningful “why” is something that we can’t really force, as it tends to unfold when we reconnect with what truly matters to us, not just what we think we should care about.

Here are a few prompts that might help you dig a little deeper:

      • When did you last feel truly well, alive, or proud of your body? What were you doing then, and how did it make you feel?

      • What would better energy, vitality, or confidence allow you to do more of or allow you to reexperience? Whether it’s dancing, travelling, waking up without exhaustion or just doing something that resonates with you and makes you happy – that vision can hold real power and help you reignite your starting point.

      • Who else benefits when you feel your best? Sometimes, our motivation deepens when we realize that it is not just about us, but also about how we show up for others, that matters too.

Just remember that it is also okay if your “why” isn’t perfectly defined at this moment in time. You can still take small, aligned actions, which can help clarify it. .

So maybe instead of focusing on motivation, try focusing on momentum by figuring out the next small, kind step forward. Celebrate every tiny win. Keep a journal, make note of any shifts in your mood, sleep, energy, or cravings. That feedback loop can be surprisingly motivating.

      I hope this helps.
